POSITION SUMMARY

The Data & Evaluation Manager leads Open Doors Academy’s data management, analysis, reporting, and evaluation efforts. This position ensures that scholar and organizational data are accurate, secure, and effectively used to support program improvement, grant compliance, organizational learning, and strategic decision-making.

The Data & Evaluation Manager works across departments and with external partners to coordinate data collection, maintain data systems, analyze outcomes, and translate complex information into clear dashboards, graphs, reports, presentations, and executive summaries. This position helps leadership, Board members, funders, school districts, and community partners understand ODA’s performance, impact, and opportunities for improvement.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Data Management and Quality

  • Lead organization-wide data collection, management, validation, and reporting processes.
  • Develop and maintain clear data standards, standard operating procedures, reporting calendars, and documentation.
  • Establish data-quality practices that promote accurate, complete, consistent, and timely information.
  • Review data regularly to identify errors, missing information, inconsistencies, and reporting concerns.
  • Work with department managers to resolve data issues and strengthen staff compliance with established procedures.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify, improve, or automate data collection and reporting processes.
  • Maintain the confidentiality and security of scholar, family, employee, and organizational information.
  • Ensure compliance with FERPA, data-sharing agreements, grant requirements, and other applicable privacy standards.

Data Systems and External Partnerships

  • Serve as the primary administrator and internal expert for ODA’s data management and reporting systems.
  • Maintain system configurations, user access, permissions, reporting formats, and data integrity.
  • Manage relationships with data software vendors and coordinate the resolution of system issues.
  • Evaluate tools and system improvements that may strengthen organizational data capacity.
  • Coordinate data exchanges with school districts, schools, evaluation partners, and community organizations.

Strategic Analysis, Reporting & Evaluation

  • Analyze program and organizational data to identify trends, strengths, performance gaps, risks, and opportunities.
  • Translate complex data into clear, actionable dashboards, graphs, scorecards, reports, and presentations for technical and nontechnical audiences.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, annual, and ad hoc reports that communicate scholar outcomes, organizational performance, and progress toward grant and program goals.
  • Collaborate with Advancement and Programming leadership to align data collection, performance measures, grant requirements, and reporting needs.
  • Support internal and third-party evaluations by coordinating data collection, analysis, reporting, and interpretation of findings.
  • Ensure reports and visualizations are accurate, accessible, consistent, audience-appropriate, and supported by organized documentation for compliance and audit readiness.

Collaboration and Organizational Support

  • Partner with Programming, Advancement, Finance, Communications, and Executive Leadership to identify and address organizational data needs.
  • Provide department managers with data procedures, tools, reporting guidance, and resources needed to support staff implementation.
  • Serve as the primary internal resource for data-related questions and reporting requests.
  • Participate in leadership, departmental, cross-functional, and external partner meetings as assigned.
  • Maintain accurate records and complete required work by established deadlines.
  • Promote ODA’s mission, values, and commitment to scholar success.
  • Contribute to a collaborative, equitable, inclusive, and continuously improving organizational culture.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Bachelor’s degree in data analytics, statistics, information systems, education, public administration, social sciences, nonprofit management, program evaluation, or a related field required.

Experience

  • At least three years of professional experience in data management, data analysis, program evaluation, educational data, nonprofit performance measurement, or a related field.
  • Experience collecting, cleaning, validating, analyzing, and presenting data from multiple sources.
  • Demonstrated experience developing dashboards, visualizations, presentations, or executive-level reports.
  • Experience translating complex findings into clear and actionable information.
  • Experience managing multiple projects and deadlines with a high level of accuracy.

TECHNICAL SKILLS

Required

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills 

Preferred

Experience with one or more of the following is preferred:

  • Power BI or Tableau 
  • Salesforce or similar CRM
  • SQL 
  • Python or R 
  • Survey platforms (Qualtrics, SurveyMonkey, etc.) 
  • Experience working with educational or nonprofit data systems

Candidates are not expected to have experience with every preferred platform. The ability to learn new systems and apply technology effectively is essential.
