About Stylus:
Stylus is a membership concept and acoustic salon for the ephemeral arts, embracing music, performance, food, and science.
Stylus offers immersive experiences in sound, thought, and cuisine. Members enjoy active listening sessions, curated talks, and performances from leading and rising artists, alongside elevated dining experiences from Michelin-starred Culinary Director Anita Lo.
Chef Anita will create daily menus alongside a global roster of chefs-in-residence. Members have exclusive access to tasting-menu dinners, hands-on culinary workshops, private classes, wine tastings, tea ceremonies, and more.
Seasonally inspired, locally sourced small plates will be prepared by our in-house culinary team.
TheSous Chef helps to manage the daily operations of the restaurant kitchen including events, ensuring top quality food production, menu execution and efficient workflow. Key responsibilities include leading and training kitchen staff, controlling food costs and inventory, helping to develop new menu items, and maintaining a clean, safe, and organized kitchen environment to support the culinary director’s vision under the direction of the Chef De Cuisine.
Oversee Daily Kitchen Operations:
-Assist in hiring, training, scheduling, managing of all cooks and dishwashers
-Ordering and maintaining quality of ingredients
-Assist with menu changes
-Oversee cleanliness and health department code compliance
-Oversee consistency and quality of menu item execution. Line check/tasting for each service worked.
-Assist in overseeing food costs including portion control, taking monthly inventory and invoice input
-Oversee execution of events
-Execute saute station and expediting during night service when scheduled (prep will be done by others)
-Oversee organization of dry storage and walk in and all other kitchen supplies.
-Oversee daily preparation of family meal.
Qualifications:
The Sous Chef must have fine dining kitchen management experience and strong knowledge of Asian ingredients and cooking techniques. Culinary pedigree from well known chefs is a must. We are seeking a detailed, passionate culinary professional with strong organizational and leadership skills. Must have Food Handler’s Certification from the NYC DOH.
